Ondo APC crisis deepens as factional EXCO emerges

There seems to be no end in sight to the crisis rocking the All Progressive Congress in Ondo State as a new factional executive has emerged with by Captian Ademola Ariyo as Chairman, despite the party's acclaimed successful state congress last weekend.

Addressing Journalists in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Wednesday, a Chieftain of the APC, Benjamin Akinbobola said the Captain Ariyo-led executive which had the blessing of the national leadership of the party, is a fallout of last Saturday's congress allegedly marred with gross irregularities.

He said Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has been appointed as Secretary and his All Nigeria Peoples' Party (ANPP) counterpart, Yemisi Aladesaye as Treasurer, adding that the new executive has been mandated to work out how other posts will be shared among the three senatorial districts of the state.

He described all the congresses held from the wards to state level as charade of failure and accused the congress chairman and a former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Femi Pedro of "gross violation of party guidlines, manipulation of electoral process and public fratenizsation with the Akeredolu-led faction."

The new Chairman, Captian Ariyo, who said all executive members under Isaac Kekemeke elected last saturday have ceased to function, promised to reconcile all aggrieved members and put the party in a better stead for the 2015 general elections.

Also speaking, the new State Secretary, Olalekan Obolo said if his group had not pulled out of the Saturday state congress, the there would have been more bloodshed than previously witnessed during the ward and local government congress.

All efforts to reach Kekemeke for his reaction on the development in the party proved abortive at press time.
