Ezeofor also said that a recent study had shown that for every one girl that dies as a result of abortion, 20 others are maimed for life.
This, she said, was as a result of attempt to terminate unwanted pregnancy using quack doctors.
Represented by Mrs Philomena Nnamani at a recent sensitization seminar held for rural women in Amesi, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State on women reproductive health and rights and safe family planning method, Ezeofor said when a woman dies, the mortality rate of the under five children rise very sharply.
She said that the aim of the group in organizing seminars and workshops around Igbo speaking states was to ensure that families practice family planning, space their children to attain a healthy and better family.
She advocated natural family planning methods for the rural women who could not meet the sophistication of the artificial methods.
While speaking on the topic "Women's Reproductive Health and Rights", Prof Brian Adinma, a former health commissioner in Anambra State urged the women to play safe by always ensuring that they space their children.
He said such would give them good health and allow them space to take good care of a child before another comes.
Barr Nkem Anyaogu, another resource person told the women that they had the right to say how many children they want to have without their husbands forcing them to have more number than they intended.
She said the group offers free legal services for women who are undergoing one trauma or the other in their homes, urging them to always report cases of rape as a way of exposing perpetrators.
Earlier, the group paid a courtesy visit to the Vice President General of Amesi community, Mr AKN Azodo.
They stated that their visit is not to teach their women to disobey their husbands, rather they were in the community to enhance the happiness of families through enlightenment of the women.
The group's cause is supported by Ipas, an international organization, which is in the forefront for women enlightenment and liberation.
Umada Igbo President General thanked Ipas for the aid they are providing to help Igbo women in Nigeria and in the diaspora.
