The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, Prof. Rotimi Ajayi, on Wednesday, urged the staff of the Institution's Centre for Entrepreneurship Development to ensure that all the students are involved in the practical aspect of entrepreneurship programmes.
Prof. Ajayi gave the charge while receiving, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Femi Mimiko, the cake produced and presented by the students of the Catering Services Unit of the Centre to the VC.
The DVC, who encouraged the students to keep up the gesture, said, "We are impressed with the activities of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development. At the same time, I want to charge the officers in charge to ensure that all the students are involved in the real practical of entrepreneurship programmes."
He said the University has begun the process of overhauling the Centre in order to make it more resourceful in its core mandate, adding, "You will agree with me that entrepreneurship is the way to go in providing jobs and if the students must be self-employed, then they must acquire some skills on campus."
The Acting Director of AAUA Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Dr. Bolanle Ogungbamila, said the exercise is in line with the core mandate of the Centre to unlock the entrepreneurship ideas in students through training and other interventions to enable them to develop entrepreneurship skills.
The exhibition covered ENT 404: Production of Fruit Juice and Non-Alcoholic Drinks; ENT 408: Livestock and Poultry; ENT 412: Catering Services and Confectioneries; and ENT 414: Textile/Fashion Designing.
