Mrs. Mimiko's MaternalPulse Foundation Honours Indigents

As parts of its many succor programs for the less privilege, Maternal Pulse Foundation, an initiative of the Wife of the Ondo State Governor,  Her Excellency, Mrs Olukemi Mimiko has given medical support, financial empowerment and wheelchairs amongst others to 17 indigent persons. At the ceremony held at the government house banquet hall in Akure on the 3rd of October, 2013. Mrs Mimiko said the gesture was in line with the mandate of her foundation to help improve the standard of living of the less privileged in the state.


Maternal Pulse Foundation was formally made public in February 2011 and has been involved in many philanthropic gestures to the less privilege on issues of health, empowerment, mentorship and free screening as well as support for families with multiple births. This empowerment is the latest of such that have brought tremendous assistance to many indigent people.


The project manager of the foundation Mr. Ireti Adesida assured that the foundation would always live up to its billings of reaching out to the less privilege. It is a duty we owe them; we do not see them as disabled or incapacitated but we see them as extremely special people deserving treatment and attention. "MPF is here to empower our loved ones, give them necessary items for their welfare and also improve their health status. We are always there to remind them that we are together in whatever challenges they are facing" he said.


In separate goodwill messages, Ondo State Commissioner for Health Dr. Dayo Adeyanju, a member of the house of Assembly, Hon. Kemi Adesanya and other dignitaries commended the foundation for the several humanitarian gestures.


Wife of the Governor encouraged the beneficiaries most of whom are physically challenged not to see themselves in a disadvantaged position but as special beings created by God. She described the gesture as a token of encouragement to give them a sense of belonging in the society and charged caregivers to show more love to physically challenged children while assuring that Maternal Pulse will continue to help women and children.


Mrs. Mimiko also urged the people to show love to people around them. One of the beneficiaries, Cherish Mmuokwe and a guest Evangelist Sunday Faromo thanked the foundation for showing benevolence to them. Of the 17 Beneficiaries, 13 got wheelchairs, 4 got financial supports while one of them also got sewing and whipping machine plus other tailoring accessories. Other dignitaries at the event include wife of the deputy Governor, Alhaja Bejide Aliu Olanusi as well as wives of top government functionaries.
