THE Ilaje Forum, a non government organisation in the oil rich community of Ondo State has advised the state government on the choice of the next chairman of the Ondo Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).

A statement signed by the coordinator of the group, Oyekan Erejuwa and the secretary, Charles Ebimoni, said the organisation was concerned about the development of the communities in the region through OSOPADEC.
According to the group, there was the need for the state governor, Dr OlusegunMimiko to appoint an outstanding administrator of valuable experience as the next chairman of the commission.

It also advised the state governor to look beyond politics in the choice of who becomes the next head of OSOPADEC.

The Ilaje Forum condemned the alleged attempt to introduce kingdoms and politics into the appointment of the chairman of the commission.

The group noted that the people of the oil producing communities were yearning for a more vibrant, sincere and visionary commission that would provide physical and genuine infrastructure for the benefit of the area.
The forum, however, urged the governor to position OSOPADEC to enable the commission attain broader vision that would assuage the feelings of neglect by the people.
