Youths smash vehicles after Policeman shoots man in Lagos [PHOTOS]

Friday's unruly behaviour of Nigeria's security agents in Lagos spread to Ikeja, the Lagos state capital, as a Mobile Police officer attached to Wema Bank along Oba Akran shot a yet-to-be identified middle aged man twice.

The reason could not be ascertained as the time of filing this report, but sources around the area said there was a slight disagreement between the policeman and the victim who lives in Agege neighbourhood.

When news got to his friends, they mobilized and stormed the bank, smashing vehicles in front and within the premises.

Our correspondent, who visited the area, discreetly took photos of the damaged cars as stern-looking policemen warned commuters against using their phone cameras to record or take picture.

DailyPost's effort to confirm from one of the officers, if one of them had opened fire on the victim met a brick wall as he declined comments.

"Sorry, I cannot say anything until my O/C (officer-in-charge) gets here," he said. But the superior was nowhere in sight one hour later.

It would be recalled that this morning, soldiers locked down Obanikoro axis of Ikorodu road in Lagos, following the alleged killing of a colleague by a Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, vehicle.

The aftermath of the angst displayed by the soldiers was a pill too hard to swallow by road users present at the scene.

Not only were at least four BRT buses torched, bullets were freely released. Also, some commuters were harassed and phones of bystanders who tried to record the incident were smashed.
