National leader of the Labour Party and Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, and other national leaders of the party are expected in Osun State next week to flag off the campaign of its governorship candidate in the August 9 poll. This was disclosed by the party's spokesperson, Kayode Oladeji, who maintained that the party was not in any form of alliance with any other party for the electoral exercise. Oladeji also seized the opportunity of the chat with Daily Sun to deny the insinuation that the party's flagbearer of Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, was preparing ground for his supporters to work for a particular candidate on the day of election, maintaining that he was working along with his party and supporters seriously with the aim of dislodging the incumbent and become the next governor of the state. According to him, whoever believes otherwise must be day-dreaming, saying, "I have bade PDP bye for good and there is no going back," adding, "Akinbade is a man of his words, a virtue that stands him out among other contenders." Speaking further, the LP spokesman described Akinbade as "a meticulous being," reminding that, "the simple but detailed Akinbade's movement from the PDP to the Labour Party, was well thought out, having consulted widely." "If other candidates have already seen the handwriting of their impending defeat on the wall of the coming polls, then they should stop using Akinbade's name. With the help of God and the esteemed support of the people of the state, Akinbade has been paddling his canoe without dropping anybody's name. If they cannot stand on their own in the coming election, they should fold up. However, their antics, want to assure them that Akinbade, who is widely accepted by people of the state, shall emerge, as the new governor of the state at the coming election," Oladeji concluded.
