Aiyedatiwa flags of 2nd phase of conditional cash transfer to Ondo State beneficiaries

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Friday, flagged off the second phase of conditional cash transfer disbursement to beneficiaries in Ondo State.

Speaking at the event held at Akure South Local Government hall, the Governor stated that under the programme, 16,255 beneficiaries across all 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State will receive financial assistance of seventy-five thousand Naira (₦75,000.00) directly through their debit cards.


He stressed that a total sum of one billion, two hundred and nineteen million, one hundred and twenty-five thousand Naira (₦1,219,125,000) only has been loaded into these Cards, ensuring direct economic support to thousands of households. Each beneficiary will receive N25,000 Naira per month for three months, making a total of seventy-five thousand Naira (N75,000.00) only to each individual, providing much-needed relief and stability to vulnerable families.

"This initiative builds upon our previous efforts, as 8,637 Debit Cards were distributed to beneficiaries across the State in November last year, making a total sum of six hundred and forty-seven million, seven hundred and seventy-five thousand Naira (₦647,775,000.00) only. The continuation of this programme is a testament to our unwavering dedication to the people of Ondo State, reinforcing our commitment to fostering inclusive economic empowerment and financial security".


He opined that the direct cash transfers aims to support families in meeting their daily needs, improving their standard of living and fostering financial independence, as the economic challenges that many people face is not hidden.

"In addition to this effort, our administration is actively working to expand the Social Register to capture more beneficiaries across the State. It is our firm belief that no vulnerable household should be left behind and through this expansion, we hope to reach more families in need, ensuring that support is extended to those who require it most".

He appreciated President Tinubu and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development for promoting the well-being of ordinary Nigerians and sustaining this programme, adding that their commitment to social intervention and economic empowerment, will continue to make a significant impact on the lives of the people.

Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely, invest in their families, support their businesses and ensure that this opportunity translates to meaningful progress in their lives.

Earlier in his address, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Investment, Hon. Felix Alonge noted that the program is in vision with Governor Aiyedatiwa's "Our Ease Agenda".

He added that is is meant to alleviate the financial constraints and problems of the country, particularly the unemployment, women, and the political challenges within the society. 

In his good will message, the State Director of National Orientation Agency, Mr James Adekunle noted that the Renewed Hope agenda of Tinubu is on course and the "Our Ease" Agenda of Governor Aiyedatiwa is on course.

According to him, there are more government programs being packaged and would be unleashed very soon. He noted that there's something for everybody to benefit from in President Tinubu's administration, meant to make life better for the people of Nigeria.

He commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for bringing governance to the doorstep of the people, stressing that Ondo State is one of the States that have keyed into President Tinubu's agenda.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Akure South Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Fasua appreciated the Governor for his love to the people of Akure kingdom. He also commended the beneficiaries for believing in the administrations of President Tinubu and Governor Aiyedatiwa.

Member representing Akoko N/W constituency and Chairman, House committee on SDG, intergovernmental and multilateral relations, Hon. Fatai Tiamiyu Atere noted that the cash transfer will go a long way for the beneficiaries. He urged the people to continue to support Governor Aiyedatiwa's administration.

The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, while congratulating the beneficiaries, noted that the cash transfer has nothing to do with political parties, ethnic group or faction. He added that it will put smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Falaye Emmanuel appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for his efforts in ensuring that no one is left behind in his administration. He assured the Governor that they would use the funds judiciously.

In attendance were; The Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, member representing Akure South Constituency 1, Hon. Stephen Abitogun, Traditional rulers, LCDA Chairmen, political leaders, among other top government functionaries.
