Aiyedatiwa’s Administration: 4 Ministries Share Scorecards, Projections

Ondo State Ministry of Agriculture & Natural Resources, Ministry of Education, Science & Technology, State Ministry of Infrastructure, Lands & Housing and the Ministry of Environment led by the respective commissioners and Special Advisers on Thursday, 5th September, 2024 shared some of the scorecards of their stewardship as servant leaders for Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.


Addressing members of the press during a media parley, the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu said the essence of the briefing is to give account to the people and ensure they are not in the dark about what government is doing in the state.



While thanking the Nigerian Union of Journalist, Ondo State council under the able leadership of Comrade Prince Leke Adegbite, Otunba Akinlosotu said the government will not take for granted the fair and balanced reportage of its activities enjoyed over the year.


He also called for more support for the administration as the government remains committed to improving the lives of the citizens in every ways possible.


In his account of stewardship, the State Commissioner for Agriculture & Natural Resources, High Chief Olayato among others highlighted that about 4,563 youths & women have been trained with some emplowered in the agricultural sector.


According to him, aside the ongoing Thursday markets where the people can buy cheap food items, the ministry will soon launch out a Sunday market that will force downward the prices of food items.


He also used the opportunity to note that food palliatives, farming inputs as well as seedlings were distributed to vulnerable homes and farmers as part of government efforts to ensure food security.


He affirmed that the state has only one working tractor as all others bought during the tenure of late Governor Akeredolu was sold off and out of the state.


His counterpart, Hon. Laolu Akindolire, the State Commissioner for Education, Science & Technology took time also to share his ministry's scorecard noting that Gov. Aiyedatiwa expended over 708million on payment of WAEC fees for secondary school students in the state.


On some of the ongoing efforts, he said the ministry has commenced work on the renovation of schools across the state just as it is projecting to reduce the number of out of school children and ensure adequate training and retraining of teaching staffs.


On the allegation that the ministry is colliding with school principals to extort students on uniform and sale of books, the commissioner said the ministry did not authorize any school principal to sell books to students and to allow for collection of samples of uniform.


At the briefing also, the Special Adviser to Mr. Governor on Infrastructure, Lands & Housing, Pastor Ayo Ade Babalola explained various ongoing road projects in the state while further assuring that the state government remains committed to bringing succour to the people through various interventions.


He said a total of 402kilometer of roads were actually awarded with 265 kilometer tarred across the state.


He further noted that Ijoka road will be commissioned before November 16th election while that of Oda road will be in another 2 weeks.


The briefing also afforded the Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Niyi Oseni the time to share the scorecard of his ministry as well.


He said efforts is being made to ensure clean and safe capital city and also to make Akure, the cynosure of all eyes.
