Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the immediate setup of a technological hub for the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology(OAUSTECH), Okitipupa.
The Senior Special Assistant(SSA) to the Governor on ICT,Hon Tomide Akinribido disclosed this on Monday during an official visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the University at his office.
The SSA stated that Governor Aiyedatiwa graciously gave the approval to provide a platform for collaboration among the students of the institution for idea exchange,knowledge sharing and formation of sustainable partnerships. The SSA on ICT further assured that when completed,the tech hub would facilitate cross-pollination of creative ideas among the undergraduate students,encourage interdisciplinary partnerships and foster a culture of open innovation within the university community. Hon Akinribido also assured that modern gadgets and devices would be deployed to equip the tech hub facility.
Responding,the Vice-Chancellor of OAUSTECH,Prof Temi Ologunorisa,expressed his excitement at the development. He praised the Governor for his commitment to the university's growth,assuring that the University management would ensure proper maintenance of the tech hub facility when completed and handed over to them. He also expressed the university's desire for the project to be delivered in no time,to enable the students make use of the facility upon resumption of the new session in October.
The Vice-Chancellor,accompanied by the University Registrar Mr Peter Okunniga,thereafter led the SSA on ICT on an inspection visit to the building earmarked for the project at the faculty of engineering,Igbodigo.
On the entourage of the SSA were officials of the state information technology agency(SITA) including Director of Engineering and IT-Mr Wole Adeyemi,Director of Software Development- Mr Austin Taiwo and Director of Planning- Mr Omotuke.
