As part of his administration's efforts to always live up to the promises made to the good people of Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa inaugurated a two-week induction program for newly recruited staff at the Ondo State Internal Revenue Learning Centre, on Monday.
Aiyedatiwa emphasized the critical role of public servants in driving government policies and delivering democratic dividends to the citizens of Ondo State.
"With the induction of 165 new employees into the Public Service of Ondo State, we are taking a significant step towards building a strong and capable workforce. These individuals represent the best and brightest who will contribute fresh ideas and dedication to our mission of serving the people of Ondo State." He stated.
The recruitment process, which saw 13,292 CVs submitted, culminated in rigorous evaluations, including a Computer Based Test (CBT) and an Oral Interview stage coordinated by Pricewaterhousecoopers (PWC). Out of the 734 candidates who reached the final stage, 165 emerged successful, earning congratulations from Governor Aiyedatiwa.
Addressing the newly recruited staff, Aiyedatiwa stressed the significance of their role in ensuring economic growth and development in the state through efficient tax collection and revenue generation. He urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and responsibility in their work.
Furthermore, Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted the importance of continuous learning and professional development in the field of taxation, encouraging the new employees to seize opportunities for training and skill enhancement.
"Innovation and creativity will be key in our approach to revenue generation. As we embrace new technologies and methodologies, let us ensure fairness and equity in our tax policies." He said
Governor Aiyedatiwa extended his warmest congratulations to the newly recruited staff, heralding the beginning of an exciting and rewarding journey towards serving the people of Ondo State.
The induction program, spanning two weeks, will provide the new employees with essential training and orientation to equip them for their roles within the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service.
Earlier in his welcome address, Mr. Tolu Adegbie, Chairman of ODRIS, articulated the mission to transform Ondo State's tax narrative and enhance revenue generation.
He urged the new recruits to embrace their roles with enthusiasm, emphasizing the importance of transparency and professionalism in their duties. Highlighting their role as public servants, Adegeie emphasized their commitment to serving the people of Ondo State.
Adegbie further noted the significant growth in Ondo State's revenue, from 10 billion in 2017 to 40 billion at the end 2023, attributing this success to the focused efforts of the organization. He outlined plans to deploy the new staff across ODRIS offices in the 18 local government areas of the state.
Adegbie congratulated the new staff, recognizing their fortune in joining a dedicated and focused organization.
In his remarks, Bayo Philips, the Head of Service, emphasized the importance of adhering to rules and regulations in the public service. He stressed the significance of integrity and ethical conduct, stating that delivering quality work in a timely manner is paramount.
Philips highlighted the existence of a reward system in the public service but stressed that adherence to rules and regulations precedes any form of recognition. He emphasized the necessity of upholding the ethics of the job and avoiding any compromises that could compromise the integrity of the service.
Among those who graced the occasion included, Deputy governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, Secretary to the State Government, Tayo Oluwatuyi, Chief of staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa, Commissioner for information, Mr Wale Akinlosotu among others
