…As Aiyedatiwa pledges tourism development for economic growth
In a bid to make Ondo State attain greater heights, the State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has vowed to prioritize the development of all tourist sites to bolster the state's economy.
This is just as the All Progressives Congress, APC party leaders and supporters unanimously echoed their support for Governor Aiyedatiwa as the APC gubernatorial candidate of the party.
Aiyedatiwa who stated this on Wednesday during his campaign tour to Akoko South West, promised increased developmental projects, enhanced security, healthcare, agriculture, and road infrastructure in the Akoko region.
The Governor who visited Owo, Ose and Akoko South West in continuation of his local governments' tour ahead of Saturday's governorship primary of the APC, reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring security remains unwavering, with a focus on safeguarding farmers' access to their fields.
He restated his administration's resolve to ensuring security and deliver sustainable development and prosperity for citizens of the state.
Receiving the Governor in Owo town, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye, described Aiyedatiwa as an astute administrator who has been running a seamless governance since becoming Governor.
While endorsing the election of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the monarch said "Since your tenure as Deputy Governor of Ondo State, you have shown your love for Owo. You did not only show loyalty to your former principal, you have been sustaining his legacies. The people of Owo have no option than to support you to continue as Governor of Ondo State."
Addressing crowd of supporters in Owo, Aiyedatiwa thanked them for their show of love, describing Owo as his second home and promising to sustain the ongoing developmental projects in the community.
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, hosted the Governor's campaign team at his residence in Owo after the rally, which was attended by many party leaders, including the Majority Leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi.
The Olowo of owo, Olute of Ute, Oba Oluwole Akinrogbe and other traditional rulers prayed for the success of Aiyedatiwa and applauded his passion to make the state better.
Akin Awodeyi Akinsehinwa, speaking on behalf of APC leaders in Owo, declared their total support for Aiyedatiwa, saying the local government will speak with one voice on Saturday.
Addressing the crowd of party members gathered at the Methodist primary school, Fajuyi, Owo, Aiyedatiwa thanked party leaders and members for their overwhelming support which will translate to victory at the primary election.
Some opposition party members decamped to the All progressives congress and was welcomed by Aiyedatiwa at the Owo rally.
While addressing monarchs at the palace of Olubaka of Oka, Oba Yusuf Adebori-Adeleye, the governor praised their role in maintaining peace and urged their support in advancing the state.
The governor said "About three weeks ago, during council of Obas meeting at my office in Akure, all the traditional rulers unanimously endorsed my continuation as Governor of Ondo State beyond 2025. This collective endorsement, witnessed and embraced by the citizens of our beloved state, reaffirms their confidence in my leadership. I am deeply grateful for this overwhelming support.
"Many have asked why the traditional rulers advocate for my continued tenure. Reflecting on my journey from Deputy Governor to Acting Governor, it is evident that the people have recognized and appreciated the positive changes initiated during my administration. We have witnessed significant progress within the short time we've been in office, with numerous ongoing projects spanning various sectors.
He sought party members support from at Saint Patrick Primary School in Oka ahead of the Ondo APC primary on Saturday before moving his campaign train to Ose and Owo local government areas where he received an enthusiastic welcome by the people.
Aiyedatiwa also inaugurated his campaign office in Oka Akoko donated by Gbenga Omole, member of the State Executive Council, with special appreciation to the people.
The leaders of the party in the local government, including Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, Victor Olabimtan, Ade Adeogun and Dr. Victor Ategbole, promised to deliver 80 percent of the votes in the local government to the Governor on Saturday.
