The annual Inter-House Sports of Agolo High School Ikare in Akoko North East local government area of Ondo state which started with joy as students competed peacefully but later ended in a bloodshed this Thursday evening.
Eyewitness account confirmed to SUNSHINETRUTH that secondary school students from various parts of Akokoland attended the annual fiesta with many old students in attendance.
The eyewitness said, "Suddenly gunshots were heard which led to immediate death of a student while two others were seriously wouded now receiving medical attention in an undisclosed hospital.
"After the unfortunate incident there was panic and apprehension in Ikare Akoko as parents were running helter skelter to check their wards safety.
Efforts to speak with either the principal of the school or the games master to know what led to the incident, proved abortive as at the time of this report.
The Divisional Police Officer in Ikare Akoko, SP Olatujoye Akinwande confirmed the incident, saying the dead student has been deposited at a mortuary while the those sustained injuries are receiving treatment.
