Suspected ‘Okada’ robber dies trying to snatch a motorcycle in Akure

The long hand of nemesis has caught up with a suspected robber, who specialized in robbing people of their motorcycles, popularly known as 'okada', as he died in a lone accident, while trying to escape with a stolen bike.
The unidentified middle-aged man, was said to have died instantly, when the okada snatched alongside his accomplice crashed in front of a joint along Alagbaka road, in Akure metropolis.
Reports had it that the deceased was lying lifeless by the road which attracted passers-by starring at the corpse.
The Hope Metro gathered that the unidentified robber lost his life, while trying to escape with the bike he allegedly snatched from a commercial motorcyclist along Sunview Hotel, in Alagbaka GRA, Akure at about 10pm on Saturday.
The owner of the motorcycle was said to have cried for help, which attracted fellow motorcyclists who gave him a hot chase.
A source told our correspondent that it was in the process of escaping that the robbers had a crash that claimed the life of the deceased.
The body, it was learnt, was lying by the road till yesterday when it was evacuated.
The police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, who confirmed the incident said it was not certain if the victim is an armed robber. But he said his men have evacuated the corpse from the scene.
According to him, investigation is still on going as the second suspected robber is still at large with the stolen bike.
