
A hawker was crushed to death on Monday, while trying to sell his goods to a moving trailer at the Onyearugbulem junction, in Akure South local government area of Ondo state.
An eyewitness said the victim simply identified as Alan from Owerri jumped into a moving trailer thinking the truck would wait for him to cross to the other side of the road but fell and was crushed by the moving trailer.
Some youths got wind of the news who chased the trailers and looted food items including cartons of noodles in the trailer.
In a swift response Men of the Federal Road Safety corps were seen parking the remains part of the deceased from the junction taken to the University Hospital Mortuary.
In a similar development, the Osun Police Patrol has allegedly knocked down a middle-aged man, Taiwo Kajogbola along Kajola/Osunjela road.
Hope Metro gathered that the deceased who was riding a lady's bike was going to give his parents some foodstuffs to break their fasting on Sunday.
According to a source, the deceased allegedly refused to stop at Kajola for a stop-and-search exercise when the police stopped him on his way back to Osogbo.
His refusal to stop prompted a hot chase by the police who purportedly hit his bike from behind when they caught up with him at Osunjela, leaving him in a pool of blood.
Reports say the police, having realised the gravity of the incident, made a u-turn and left the scene.
Kajogbola was unlucky as he did not survive the incident. He gave up the ghost when some good Samaritans were rushing him to the hospital.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola said she's just hearing about the incident but assured that investigation is ongoing to unravel the cause of the incident.

The affected communities are Igbariam, Aguleri, and Umueri in Anambra East, as well as Nteje, Awkuzu, and Umunya in Oyi local government area.
A statement by the Secretary to the State government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu said the curfew, which took immediate effect, is between 7 pm and 6 am daily. The statement advised the people and residents of the state living in the affected communities to obey the curfew order, as security personnel are on strict orders to enforce it.
