Israel Adesokan, a former aide to Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi has flaged off free 150 JAMB Registration for Iyin-Ekiti Students.
At the event held in Iyin-Ekiti town hall, Irepodun / Ifelodun Local Governm ent Area of Ekiti State, Adesokan, said the gesture was his contribution to the development of education .
Represented by Mayowa Blessing Adefola, Adesokan said the move was to relaunch Ekiti to an enviable height in the education ladder among the 36 states in the country.
He added the gesture would go along way in restoring the old glory when the state occupies the first position in education among other ethnic groups.
He further said that the programme was borne out of Israel Adesokan's love for his people, adding that he loves associating and not dissociating from them.
He reiterated that the programme has no political colouration, stressing that the programme is for all indigenes of the town irrespective of their political affiliations.
He urged them to work hard and not to allow anything to debar them from achieving success in their academic lives.
Adesokan promised that the best five candidates that scored above 250 marks will be rewarded in terms of scholarship education into their University of choice.
A High Chief in the town, Ayodeji Esan explained that the programme will help the students from poor homes to get admission into higher institutions for the next academic session at Tertiary institutions in the country.
He noted that the initiative was necessary for youths of the town to be relevant and competitive in a 21st century economy like Nigeria.
Chief Ayodeji Esan, who is the Odofin of Iyin-Ekiti also urged the beneficiaries of the scheme to be steadfast, work hard and to be successful in their academic pursuit, adding that there's no shot cut to success anywhere in the world.
The 150 free JAMB Registration was initiated by an ex aide to the incumbent Governor of Ekiti State Mr. Israel Adesokan also known as Jarule to help students in the area secure admission into Tertiary institutions.
