A rapist whose identity could not been ascertained was beaten to coma by a mob for raping and plucking out the eyes of his victim on Monday at Oluwatuyi area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The arrival of policemen stopped the rapist from being burnt alive.
Witnesses said the suspect is an hausa who could not say his name or where he is from.
Both the victim and the rapist are still in a state of unconsciousness at the police clinic in Akure.
Ondo Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident but said family of the victim was yet to be seen
