There was a mild drama this afternoon as supporters of Zenith Labour Party in Akungba, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, alleged the ruling all Progressives Congress of sponsoring thugs to disrupt thier meeting.
The political meeting held in united primary school in Akungba was reportedly disrupted by thugs believed to be members of the APC.
It was learnt that the thugs destroyed the instrument of the compere that was hired to provide sound system for the party.
Speaking with our correspondent, a former member of Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Ogunbi, expressed displeasured as one of the said thugs tried to axe down a member of ZLP which lead to injuries of the former ondo lawmaker.
According to Ogunbi "we wanted receive to 1500 members of the opposition party, when some APC Chieftains sent some hoodlums to stop our meeting"
"The hoodlums even threatened me to take my leave. I want to call President Buhari to intervene as so that what happened in 1983 will not repeat itself in Ondo State"
"Another leader of the party, Hon. Adesayo Aremo, noted that the hoodlums came with swords, cutlass, adding that over 1500 decampees and party chieftains scampered for safety"
The local government Public relations officer of the party, Mr. Deji Aminu (Dj bouncing entertainment) said the state party chairman of ZLP, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja, was on his way to receive some major decampees from the opposition party when the incident happened.
Aminu also added that the thugs threatened to unleash violence on members of the party.
