Akeredolu Appoints Wife, Daughter into Cancer Advisory Committee

Ondo State Governor,Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN has set up a cancer advisory committee for the state.

According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Yemi Olowolabi, the committee consists of 13 members which will be chaired by the First Lady, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu.

Also in the committee is the governor's daughter, Dr. Teniola Akeredolu.

"The committee is to advise and serve as interface between the state government and the University of Washington which has shown interest in partnering with the government to improve cancer control in the state.

"The partnership will be in the areas of baseline assessment (monitoring and evaluation through useful and tested information, strategic planning and capacity building for the proposed cancer centre in the state; cancer advocacy and support groups and networking with other interested organisations," the statement read in part.

Mrs Akeredolu is a breast cancer survivor, and is founder of Breast Cancer Association of Nigerian, BRECAN.

Other members of the committee include Dr. Dipo Olabumuyi, Dr. Kingsley, Dr. Ajibola Adeyeye, Dr. Aba Katung, Dr. Ndidi Okunnuga, Dr. Adewale Adisa.

Others are Dr. Mojisola Atalabi, Mrs. Folashade Aluko, Engr. Raimi Aminu, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, who will serve as the committee's secretary.
