ODSG Approves N11. 2Billion For Infrastructural Development

In its unbridled desire and commitment to building Infrastructure and providing enabling environment for investment to thrive, Ondo State Government has approved the sum of N11.29b for infrastructural projects in the three Senatorial Districts of the state.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Pastor Femi Agagu who doubles as the Chairman of the state tenders' Board flanked by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Yemi Olowolabi, while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state Executive Council meeting on Monday assured that the projects will begin soonest in selected areas.

Agagu explained that the Council approved the renovation of office and construction of a new gate at the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) Head office in Oba-Ile at the rate of N86.7 million.

The Council, according to Pastor Agagu, also approved the upward review of the ongoing dualization project in Ikare township roads phase 1 from N489 million to N629 million.

He attributed the upward review of the project to the difficult terrain in terms of the rock encountered on the project site that has to be excavated, so as to enable it align with the phase 2 dualisation.

"The phase 1 has to be expanded. It was awarded by the immediate past Administration as a single-lane road and would be expanded to align with the dualisation going on in Ikare.

"The road has to be dualised and the rock along the project has to be taken account of, hence the need for the upward review of the project from N489M-N629M", he said.

He added that the Council also approved the rehabilitation of the 87 Lots and 74.5 Kilometres total length of the Wooden Walk Ways and Jetties spread across Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas at the rate of N807 million.

Also approved was the construction of the Alagbaka-High Court and Appeal Court road totalling about 6.2 kilometres in Akure which was awarded at the rate of N1.4 billion.

The Commissioner further stated that the council approved the rehabilitation of some selected township roads in Ile-Oluji totaling 5.25 kilometres at the rate of N882.4 million.

He stated that the continuation of Owo dualization project from Emure junction to A-U-D and Ministry of Works down to Iyere junction totaling 7.135 kilometres Dual Carriageway will gulp N7.1 billion.

Agagu also mentioned that the rehabilitation of some selected township roads in Isarun in Ifedore Local Government Area totaling 3.1 kilometres will gulp N695.2 million.

The State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Rt Hon Taofeek Abdulsalam assured that the contractors will soon move to site to ensure that the projects are completed on time.

He added that various contractors handling the projects, have 12 months to complete them and hand over the projects.
