Ondo State received N5.06 billion from the money accrued to the federation account in March 2018, which was shared in April, SUNSHINE HERALD has gathered.

This was revealed in a document released by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, showing what the federal government, each state and local government earned in April.

According to the document, Ondo state got N5,061,189,151.98 as earnings after all deductions had been made.

Among the deductions made were N53,057,456.93 as external debt, 307,710,850.70 as contractual obligations (ISPO), and N236,499,022.90.

Ondo came 9th in the country with the allocation, behind Delta, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Lagos, Kano, Kaduna and Edo states.

April's return represents a slight reduction in earnings from February and March this year, where the state got N5,138,977,834.22 and N5,288, 791,220.22 respectively.

The state in the 2018 budget signed into law by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu had projected getting a total of N52,888,848,000.00 as earnings from the federation account.

This comprises of N25,352,256,000.00 as statutory allocation, N15,536,592,000.00 as mineral derivative and N12,000,000,000.00 as the state's share of VAT.

Local governments in the state also got a total allocation of N2,760,091,710.39
