Students leaders of Adekunle Ajasin University have refuted the claim by the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Yemi Olowolabi that the government has reduced their school fees.
Speaking with SUNSHINE HERALD, for the students, Director of Campus Affairs, National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Kunle Arosoye said the government should release an official statement if indeed the fees have been reduced.
According to him, no agreement has been reached with the government, as they only gave them options which they promised to take back to their fellow students.
He also expressed displeasure that some agents of government had put on the social media, purported figures of the reduction when negotiations were still ongoing.
It would be recalled that Olowolabi had earlier told SUNSHINE HERALD that the government reduced the fees "substantially after a meeting with the student leaders this evening.
"We just finished the meeting. He has reduced it no doubt.
"We agreed for now to allow the students to go and discuss with their larger community.
"But the governor has reduced it substantially.
"I don't have figures at the moment, when we have figures, we will let you know. But you can report that he has reduced it substantially," Olowolabi told SUNSHINE HERALD.
