Ondo state government have been asked to reconsider payment of state allowance to corps members serving in the state.
State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mrs Grace Akpabio made this appeal while speaking at the swearing-in-ceremony for the 2018/2019 batch A stream one corps members at the permanent orientation camp in Ikare Akoko.
The state coordinator also appealed to government ministries, departments and agencies to endeavor to pay corps members monthly stipends for transport and accommodation.
SUNSHINE HERALD recalls that corps members serving in Ondo state were last paid state allowance in 2011.
Representing Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, sports commissioner, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye promised that the state government will give the orientation camp a face-lift.
He also assured the corps members of a conducive environment in the state during their service year.
Oath of allegiance was administered on the corps members by Justice Nelson Adeyanju who represented the state Chief Judge, Oluwatoyin Akeredolu.
