A political group in Ondo State, under the auspices of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Grassroots Mobilizer has condemned the action of the Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, over the arrest of students and their parents for making their minds known.
The youth organisation of the opposition party said the action of the governor is tantamount to autocratic way of ruling.
According to the state coordinator, Comrade Kunle Ajibogun, "It is unheard of Governor Akeredolu to arrest parents over what they see as imposition of high tuition fee on them, no, it is just bad".
However the group also called on the well meaning Nigerians to call Gov. Akeredolu to order over the recent happenings in the State.
"The recent trends of events in Ondo State call for a quick intervention of all genuine and reasonable leaders to save the situation.
"We the Peoples Democratic Party, Grassroot Mobilisers, Ondo State chapter is therefore calling on the present administration in Ondo State, under the leadership of Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to rise up to the occasion and stop been docile in governance."
The recent clamped down , arrest and brutality of students and their parents who are mainly market women , who were demonstrating peacefully on the hike of fees in the state owned University, AAUA by the police is great show of insensitive to human plights.
We are however calling on the state government to quickly address the matter in the interest of peace and stability, rather for Gov. Akeredolu to keep silence on the matter, playing politics with lives and future of the citizenry.
