Ondo assembly gets 30% of total overhead cost in 2018 budget

The Ondo state government will spend about 30% of its total overhead cost budget for 2018 to service the 28 members of the state house of assembly.

In the details of the budget which was seen by SUNSHINE HERALD, out of the N4,489,289.500 (N4.49 billion), budgeted for overhead cost, the house of assembly will get N1,152,500,000 (N1.15 billion) which amounts to 29.58% of the total overhead cost.

Parts of the expenses to be incurred by the assembly include: N350 million for local travels and transports in asides an additional N53 million and N43 million for the speaker and deputy speaker's travels respectively.

The assembly also earmarked N150 million for "printing of non-security documents, another N120 million for maintenance of motor vehicle/transport equipment and N80 million for maintenance of office furniture.

Also in the overhead cost budget for the house of assembly are: electricity charges N50 million; telephone charges N30 million; office stationeries/computer consumables N50 million and local training N150 million.

An additional N50 million is budgeted for "other consulting services"; N30 million for refreshment & meals; N50 million for welfare packages and another N42.5 million for other goods & services.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu signed into law a total budget of N181.42 billion February 6, 2017.
