2018 UTME: We saw our results before JAMB cleared them from website — Candidates

MANY candidates who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, are crying foul, demanding reasons why their earlier released results were removed from the website of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB. They are asking JAMB to explain why it displayed "You do not have any result yet" or "you did not write the examination," after such results were earlier published and removed from their website..

Reacting to Vanguard Online post on the just-concluded UTME, many candidates and parents recounted their ordeals.

Max Odinukweze said: "I had my UTME on March 10, and three days after my examination, I checked and saw my result using my phone. A day later, I went back to check to print it out, I was surprised when I saw the response: "No Result Yet" and since that time till now, I have not seen my result."

Michael O. said: "I took my Exam on March 10 and saw my results few days after. But when I checked two days ago,  the result was no longer there. I have a feeling my result is among the withheld and I am unsure why.  It would be quite unfortunate if I do not see my result again."

Adeleke Adebola said: "I wrote my examination on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Funlearn Mind Builder, Opebi, Ikeja. I have been having issues with getting my result when I log in to JAMB website. It is either saying 'You Do Not Have Any Result Yet' or 'You did not write the examination.' My registration number is 86578256JF."

Ochuko said: "I wrote my exam on March 10. I checked it once and saw it. The following day, I tried to check it again so that I could print it out but it showed me 'No result yet.' I don't understand what is going on. Please I need explanation."

Abdulganiyu Abdulrazaq Oladime said: "I have been checking my result since after the exam but I keep getting the reply: "You don't have any result yet."

Abey said: "It's very frustrating for someone not to be able to access his/her result after the stress we went through."

A student from Port Harcourt said: "After passing through hell while writing the 2017 UTME in an unconducive environment, coupled with server problem, some of us could not write the day we were given. After waiting till odd hours in the night, we came another day to sit for the exam. Some of us who were supposed to write by 1:30pm wrote by 8:00pm, still the exam was cancelled in our centre.

"My parents spent about N20,000 just for me to sit for the UTME so I could gain admission into tertiary institution. The government should please see to this and intervene. My UTME registration number is: 75246492ii.

 Innocent candidates

Mc Freeze said: "Honestly, the organisation of this year's JAMB was rather poor. As if that wasn't bad enough, now they're withholding some results. If you say some people cheated, bring out irrefutable evidence that some people cheated because I did not cheat.

Yusuf Omorinola, a parent said: "How long will it take JAMB to release the results of innocent candidates in order to free our children from the psychological trauma they have been subjected to for the past two weeks? These children need to concentrate on their forthcoming WASSCE.

"I am appealing to JAMB to reconsider its position with respect to the withheld results of some candidates. Innocent candidates who prepared tirelessly for the examination should not be punished alongside those who engaged in exam malpractice. If actually the CCTV installed by JAMB at all CBT centres functioned maximally, in addition to JAMB officials assigned to the various centres, then suspected cases of exam malpractice should have been cleared by now."
