Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, will today begin the commissioning of 26 road projects and disbursement of N18million to mark the first year anniversary of his administration.
Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee who doubles as the State Commissioner for Finance, Mr Wale Akinterinwa, while briefing Journalists on activities lined up for the week-long event, revealed that 18 million naira will be disbursed to ten women in each local government across the state through the Micro Credit Agency.
It would be recalled that the Governor having won the gubernatorial election held on November 26th, 2016, was sworn-in on February 24, 2017 as the sixth Executive Governor of Ondo State.
He stated that the event will also feature the commissioning of 26 road projects and flagging off of new ones across the three senatorial districts of the state.
Apart from these, he said the state government will establish two more Technology Hubs in addition to the one newly established at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).
Akinterinwa explained that the two new Technology Hubs would be sited at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko and the Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa.
The Finance commissioner who pointed out that the two new technology hubs would serve the Southern and Northern senatorial districts to complement the FUTA tech hub which will serve the central senatorial District of the state.
Akinterinwa further hinted that the Anniversary activities which will hold between 19-24th of this month, will kick-off today with a lecture to be delivered by renowned Professor of Law, Prof Akin Oyebode on the topic "Rethinking the Nigerian Nationhood: Issues and Challenges" and would be chaired by a former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Alani Akinrinade.
The Anniversary Chairman said government will present Award of Excellence to students who excelled in all competitions, while Command performance will be held at the International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome) in Akure.
He also said that there will be Novelty match between the Executives and the Lawmakers as well as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at the Akure Sports Complex.
Akinterinwa stated that there will be commissioning of Stands and Table Tennis Courts at the Akure Sports Complex, while there will be flag off of the Olori Connection (Birth and Death Registration to be held at the Olowa Palace, Igbara-Oke on Wednesday.
Also lined up are the comissioning of the Technology Hub at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Jumat service at the Akure Central Mosque, Choral and virtual pipe organ concert which will be held at St Patrick's Anglican Church, Owo.
On Friday, APC unification rally, a ceremony that would bring together all members of the APC family will come up at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure, while a media chat by Governor Akeredolu will come up at the Ondo State Rediovision Corporation (OSRC) later same day.
Akinterinwa further revealed that the anniversary will be brought to an end with an Inter-denominational service at the International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome) in Akure, on Sunday.
He emphasised that the cost of the event is minimal in view of the economic realities in the state and Akeredolu's modest disposition to governance.
