The Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has summoned a former Director of Local Government Administration in Akoko South-East Local Government, one Mr Akintelure and the former local government Engineer, Ewetan over alleged mismanagement of  public funds to the tune of N 24million.

The Committee also summoned some contractors, who handled various capital projects in different locations within the council area.

The Chairman of the House committee, Hon. Jamiu Maito made the revelation after inspecting some projects in the local government area.

Akintelure and Ewetan who have since been transferred to other local government areas of the state allegedly mismanaged the funds meant for capital projects in the council area under their supervision.

Hon. Maito who expressed displeasure over mismanagement of public funds also reiterated the Assembly's commitment in ensuring that funds meant for the execution of projects are adequately utilised in such a way that would benefit the masses.

The committee equally queried how the two former council officials spent about N6 million to repair one pay holder and a grader owned by the council while the two machines are not still working.

Earlier, the Chairman, Akoko  South  East Local Government, Mr. Adeyemi Raymond who promised to work hand in hand with the committee, also sought their support  to improve the internally generated revenue of the council.

The local government Director of Finance, Mr. Adeoye Atibioke  lauded the 8th Assembly for the oversight visit, saying it is the only Assembly since 1999 to conduct a practical and effective oversight function.

He added that the development  would help the council to buckle up.
