AAUA students shine at West Africa Citizens Awards, win 3 awards

Students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, AAUA were the cynosure of all eyes at the West African Citizens Awards, as they carted home 3 awards for the night.

The West Africa Citizens Awards which is an award to celebrate and recognize talent and motivate young West African youths in their chosen fields, and to promote and showcase young and promising young minds across West Africa to the world was held in Lagos last weekend.

The AAUA students who emerged winners in their categories are: Damilola Olufemi and Olufunke Olabode.

Olufemi, a 200 level student of Public Administration in the institution won the Best Journalist of the Year category.

He is a writer, a journalist with Oasis Media Group (a media outfit in AAUA), and a correspondent of Sunshine Herald Newspaper, Akure, Ondo State. He is also the current Vice President (Editorial) of the Nigerian Union Of Campus Journalists (NUCJ) AAUA Chapter.

Olabode Olufunke, a 400 level student of English Studies, also won the Best Poet of the Year.

In the same vein, Frikanah Theatre Company which is a Dance Group brand in the school went home with the Best Dance Group award, winning it's category.
