New Academic Session: Students, Teachers Elated as Arabinrin Akeredolu visits public schools

The wife of Ondo state Governor, Arabinrin Betty Akeredolu today visited some public schools in Akure in order to welcome the students into the new session.

At Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School and St James' Anglican Primary School, Oda, Akure, the wife of the Governor was received by a rousing crowd of students who were overjoyed to receive her in their premises .

Addressing the students at Fiwasaye Girl's Grammar School, Arabirin Akeredolu emphasised that she is determined to demonstrate that every girl child and woman in Ondo State become more in whatever capacity they find themselves.

While promising to provide solar panel to the school to power its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre, Mrs. Akeredolu also used the opportunity to charge the students to take the message of breast health home to their parents.

"This is the beginning of the session and I wanted to know how you are doing. I wanted your principal to tell me what the problems are because we are here to take care of you. All of you are my daughters and based on what I have heard and seen, thumps up to all of you.

"Now that you have an ICT centre, we will now add solar panel so that electricity will be 24 hours. It is my solar girls that will install it and as your classmates are doing it, you all should be watching. Everybody will be a part of this process to demonstrate that as a girl child and as a woman, we can be more", Mrs. Akeredolu, the mother of sunshine state stressed while highlighting plans for BRECAN 20th Anniversary slated for October.

In her remark, the Principal of Fiwasaye Girls' Grammar School, Mrs. Taye Bola acknowledged that the visit was unprecedented while stating that Fiwasaye has been raising responsible citizens in the society like the former Head of Service in Ondo State, Mrs. Kosemani Kolawole among others.
Mrs. Bola also used the opportunity to highlight some of the activities of the school most especially the supports of the Parents Teacher Association (PTA) in employing teachers and security personnel.
Tomoloju Oluwatomisin, the Senior Girl of the school used the opportunity to thank the First lady stressing that she is indeed a mother who is passionate about the development of the children.
Ms. Oluwatomisin stated that the school has also decided to join in the fight to stop the scourge of cancer by establishing a breast cancer club in the school.
Earlier at St James' Anglican Primary School, the head teacher, Mrs. Foluke Afolabi who expressed gratitude for the visit thanked the First Lady for the gesture.
