Akeredolu Mobilises Contractors for massive road construction

The governor of Ondo state Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu has reassured the people of the state of his readiness to embark on massive construction of roads across the state.

The governor stated that the ongoing road projects that had been slowed down due to the rainy season would soon receive a boost by the time the dry season set in. The governor assured that the next season would be utilised effectively. The Governor gave the assurance that the Ministry of Works and the Direct Labour Agency would also ensure prompt maintenance and repair of roads damaged due to torrential rainfall.

The Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure Rt Hon Taofik Abdulsalam who reechoed the governor, stated that many road projects abandoned by the last administration would receive immediate attention. He assured the people that the Akeredolu-led administration would ensure that infrastructure in the state would no longer be left to decay. He lamented the neglect of many economically viable roads across the state and promised to promptly tackle the issue head-on.

The Commissioner also called on the Federal Ministry of Works to reimburse the state with some amounts spent on the rehabilitation of some Federal roads in the state. He also called for more collaborations with Minister of Works, Power and Housing Mr Babatunde Raji Fasola, SAN. He noted that Ondo state was a major link between the economic base of the nation and the country's capital. He said many roads in the state were within the control of the Federal government. The commissioner assured that the era of blame game was over and promised that the roads were a priority of the APC-led administration in the state.
