Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN,has re-echoed the pride of Ondo State as the most peaceful state among the nine states in the Niger Delta Region.
Speaking at a dinner organised by the state government to wrap up the 2nd National Council On Niger Delta hosted in Akure, Akeredolu said sustaining a peaceful environment is paramount to the state government.
Akeredolu, who was represented by his Deputy ,Honourable Agboola Ajayi also stressed that the state government in its quest to ensure peaceful environment in the riverine areas of the state, has engaged traditional institutions.
The Governor advised that recommendations of the summit should be properly implemented, to assuage the feelings of the people of the Niger-Delta whose livelihood he said has contented with avoidable neglect and injustice.
He therefore promised to give the Council the needed support to achieve it's mandate of rapid development of the oil producing areas in the country.
He thanked the Local Organising Committee for success recorded throughout the programme.
Six drivers who took part in conveying delegates during the event were honoured at the dinner for professionalism displayed in the course of discharging their duties.
