Ondo state received 14 billion naira from the first tranche of Paris club refund paid to states by the Federal government it has been revealed.
In a statement signed by Salisu Danbatta, Director of Information, Ministry of Finance, N516.38 billion was shared among the 36 states and FCT after the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari on November 21 2016.
Rivers State received the highest amount of N34. 9 billion, followed by Delta, N27.6 billion; Akwa Ibom, N25. 98 billion and Bayelsa, N24.9 billion.
With the N14 billion collected, Ondo is placed 12th position on the amount collected.
It will be recalled that the administration of immediate past governor of the state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko had claimed to have collected only N6.5 billion from the Paris club refund.
According to the statement issued by the former information commissioner, Kayode Akinmade, out of the N6.5b received, the state government will get N4.37b which represents 67.3 percent of the sum, while the Local Councils in the state will get N2.1b which represents 32.7 percent of the sum paid.
Information available to SUNSHINE HERALD revealed that the outgoing administration of Mimiko was only paid 50% of the amount due the state because it was already leaving government for the Akeredolu-led government.
