Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has reiterated his administration's commitment to carry out some restructuring aimed at making the public service efficient and effective.
Akeredolu stated this while performing the swearing-in of Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Justice, Mr Akindele Adedapo Adetunji and Tutor-General, Alhaji Kazeem Aminu at the ceremony held at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor's office in Akure yesterday.
According to the Governor, the move does not contemplate any form of retrenchment whatsoever, adding that his administration will not tolerate any attitude of indolence and corruption from public servants.
Akeredolu described the duo's elevation as well-deserved and purely based on seniority and on merit.
"These two appointments made on the twin consideration of merit and seniority, constitute the first in the series of appointments to be made into the topmost echelon of the State public service since the assumption of office of this administration"
He charged the new appointees to continue to give their best to the system and provide qualitative leadership in their respective positions.
The Governor charged public servants to exhibit unalloyed loyalty and unflinching commitment to their sacred duties.
"You must enhance your competencies and industry and be ready to soar with this government.
"This government is resolute to emplace a technologically-driven bureaucracy which is transparent, cost-saving and target-oriented and we will not rest on our oars until this is accomplished.
"I wish to assure that as much as practicable, we will be committed to prompt payment of salaries and allowances to our workers", he assured.
Earlier in his welcome address, the State Head of Service, Barr. Toyin Akinkuotu assured the Governor that the bureaucracy would continuously be alive to its responsibilities as the driver of government policies and programmes.
The newly elevated bureaucrats while responding, thanked the Governor for his kind gesture, saying "whatever we have done to merit the elevations, we will continue to do more and better".
