The Governor of Ondo State Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has called on the State House of Assembly to give accelerated passage to all the bills that have to do with the projects the World Bank and the State partnered together to impact on the lives of the people in the state.
The Governor made the call during a cocktail get together organised for the World Bank Team which visited villages on interaction with communities leaders in the state on partnership with the state on various projects that will bring development to the grassroots in the state.
Represented by his Deputy, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, the Governor urged the House to give speedy passage to all the bills the executive will present to the lawmakers including the procurement act that will ease the implementation of the projects.
He appreciated the team for the visit and their commitment towards the project to better the lives of the people of the state.
The projects include Rural Access and Mobility (RAM) as the new among the projects the state government partnered with the World Bank.
Others are Community Service Development Programme (CSDP), Fadama lll project and education sector.
Speaking at the event, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.. Bamidele Oleyelogun, assured of the readiness of the House to give accelerated passage to all the relevant bills in connection with the projects.
The Speaker explained that as soon as the executive present the bills to the House, the lawmakers will commence their legal duty on them for speedy passage.
His words" In few weeks a lot of good news will be heard about the state following the partnership between the state government and the World Bank to move the state to the greater height"
Oleyelogun commended the World Bank team for their commitment since the arrival of the members of the team to the state, noting that their visit to villages and interaction with communities leaders will bring a lot of development to the people of the state.
Also speaking, the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Sunday Olajide noted the visit as good one which according to him has enhanced spirit of friendship between the state and the World Bank
Olajide, who noted that the state governor is a man who always stand by his policy to move the state forward assured that the necessary support of the House to ensure the projects are accomplished for the development of the state.
"Members of the House on their parts will give necessary support to pass the bills before the House into laws", he affirmed
Earlier, the World Bank Team Leader, Prof. Folusho Okunmadewa, who appreciated the state government for its partnership with the bank, had said the stand of Governor Akeredolu on the partnership to ensure the World Bank team came to the state enthused the bank to visit the state.
He said "We are very excited with the level of cooperation received from the state government.
