In ensuring that  Ondo State is financially independent  to run its economic activities, the state government is set to partner with revenue generating firms  that are capable of generating about N3billion monthly.

Disclosing this was the State Accountant-General, Mr. 'Laolu Akindolire while fielding questions from journalists in his office.

Akindolire who noted that the state IGR has not been encouraging recently due to the absence of contracts, said some of these firms that have demonstrated their competence to generate revenue  have achieved same for states like Kwara and Rivers, an assurance that has convinced the state to be ready to sign up the contract.

His words: " Our IGR has not been growing  because we are not awarding contracts where people will pay tender fees, tax clearance certificate, development levy, and when the contracts are eventually awarded and we are paying them, we will deduct withholding tax, fax, etc which are revenues.

" Because of this the government is doing a lot to increase the IGR, so many Consultants have already come for demonstration, some are assuring us of generating up to N3billion monthly, they did  it  for Kwara, the same company did so for Portharcourt.

"Any moment from now, we are going to sign them up; if we can make N3billion monthly, that means we will just take little from the statutory allocation, pay salaries and about N3billion will be available for projects".

According to him, on assumption of office of the current administration, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has not only prioritised the welfare of the workforce but has also approved the release of N200million  monthly for the settlement of outstanding gratuities.

He added that 100% gross of the State has been committed to the payment of salaries and pensions since the inception of the current government.

The Accountant-General revealed that as soon as the State received the awaited batch of the Paris club fund, the governor is ready to offset salary arrears.

He therefore enjoined workers to reciprocate the gesture of the government and encourage the governor by continuing to put in their best in service.
