Akeredolu assures youths gainful employment; bags Boys Brigade Grand Patron in Ondo

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, yesterday assured the teeming youths in the state that quite a number of unemployed among them will soon be productively engaged in diverse sectors.

He gave this assurance yesterday in his speech during his investiture as the Grand Patron of the Boys Brigade of Nigeria (BBN) held at The  New Church Cathedral, Owo.

He enjoined the youths to be patient and prepared to leverage on the various creative programmes of his administration towards ending joblessness in their lives.

Akeredolu categorically stated that his administration has lined up series of programmes including, N Power Project; Training of Youths for Internal Revenue Generation; Information Communication Technology Entrepreneurship and Agriculture.

The governor reiterated his readiness to partner all credible youth's organisations like Boys' Brigade, Boys' Scout and Red Cross to keep them away from restiveness and other acts capable of truncating their bright future.

He also appealed to all well meaning individuals to support the Boys' Brigade organisation with their resources for the uplift of the youths for a better tomorrow.

In his sermon, the Western Area Bishop of The Lord's New Church, Rev'd,  Gabriel Olowombi advised Governor Akeredolu,  to always seek the face of God in administering the state.

The Bishop said the investiture of Governor Akeredolu as Grand Patron of the Boys' Brigade is divinely arranged and as such encouraged him to commit himself to asking God for His wisdom like David did for a new lease of life in for the people of Ondo State.

The National President, of the Boys' Brigade, Sir Nnmadi Nwosu noted that the organization is a project committed into the hands of the youths to advance the kingdom of God through evangelism and unity in the body of Christ.

He maintained that discipline is the hallmark of the Boys' Brigade and that the Church should therefore support the youth organization in character moulding through training and retraining for national unity and advancement.

The Boys' Brigade was founded in Glasgow, Scotland by Sir William Smith in 1883 as an international voluntary Christian youth uniform organisation for the training of boys to achieve Christ Kingdom and for the promotion of habits of obedience, perseverance, discipline, self respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.

Highlights of the elaborate ceremony were the inauguration of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale as President of the State Council of Boys' Brigade of Nigeria.
