The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has mandated the leaders of Osun West Senatorial district to pick a candidate for the replacement of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke from his Ede hometown.

Senator Adeleke died at the age of 62.

The first civilian governor of Osun state, in 2014, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

APC State Chairman, Prince Adegboyega Famodun, on Monday, gave the directive during Osun West Senatorial meeting of Elders forum of APC which held at the party's secretariat, in Osogbo, the state capital.

The party leader directed the gathering to select candidate from Ede without delay.

He said the candidate must come from Ede to contest for the senatorial seat within the 90 days ultimatum given by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

DAILY POST gathered that at the meeting, party men and women unanimously agreed that someone be picked from Ede to complete the tenure of Senator Adeleke.

Famodun then asked chairmen of Elders Forum from Osun West, headed by the Osun West Senatorial Chairman, Alhaji Yinusa Amobi, and a party representative, Alh Rasak Salinsile to co-lead the selection committee.

The committee has 30 days to submit its report on modalities to select a credible candidate that will contest in the by-election on a date to be announced by INEC.
