The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo on Monday failed again to visit Ondo State.

No reason was given for the cancelled visitation.

Osinbajo, had earlier fixed last Friday for his visitation to the state but due to bad weather at the Akure airport, which denied the Presidential jet from landing, the event was rescheduled to Monday.

On that Friday, the advanced team of the acting President, including the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig Gen Paul Boroh had arrived the state.

They were directed to wait in the state till Osinbajo's arrival on Monday.

The acting President has been touring the Niger Delta States, which include Ondo state, meeting stakeholders on how to bring peace to the oil producing region.

He has earlier visited Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa and Imo states.

Also, Osinbajo was expected to commission some Projects, including the Multibillion naira International Event Centre, Dome in Akure, initiated by the outgoing governor.

As early as 10 a.m, the Dome has been filled with dignitaries including ‎traditional rulers, religious and political leaders, people from the two riverine local councils (Ilaje and Ese-Odo) waiting for the arrival of Osinbajo.

Around 3pm, Mimiko in company of Boroh and his political aides, personally commissioned the Dome after his guest failed to come.

Unlike last Friday when the outgoing governor informed the gathering why Osinbajo could not make the trip, Mimiko only spoke briefly on the newly commissioned Dome.

He described the edifice as ‎the best in Nigeria, saying the event centre had come to represent their dream for an event centre.

Mimiko said this would also make the state a commercial hub as the facilities in the centres were world class.

Boroh, who also did not mention why Osinbajo cancelled his trip again, said there had been stability in the Niger Delta State for the past one month due to the federal government's intervention.

He said "the acting President has been going about to ensure peace reigns in the Niger Delta States.

"It is better you engage in dialogue than going into war. We will continue to engage in dialogue.

"The government has vowed to transform this illegality to legality by instituting modular refineries. We will carry along the people of Niger Delta.

"The major issue of Niger Delta has been neglect or marginalisation. There will be job opportunity, the economy will grow and there will be stability."
