Civil servants working in the Ondo state House of Assembly have been ordered to stay away from the Assembly complex indefinitely, following what has been described as threat to their lives, occasioned by the crisis currently rocking the Assembly.
According to a statement issued by the Ondo Assembly chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria in Akure on Thursday and signed by its Chairman, Comrade Araulene Felix , the workers were instructed to stay away indefinitely from the Assembly until enabling environment for work is provided and security of its members could be guaranteed.
Stating that the resolution is in line with the directive of the organised labour under the leadership of the NLC, TUC and NLC, PASAN noted that its members are civil servants who have nothing to do with the crisis in the Assembly adding that members are not likely to be recalled until the assault on the Paymaster of the Assembly , Comrade Adesina Makanjuola is addressed.
In the statement titled : Directive From The Organised Labour regarding the welfare of our Members At Ondo State House Of Assembly, PASAN said "arising from the crisis rocking the Assembly since friday 27th January, 2017 where Comrade Adesina Makanjuola was assaulted by some of the honourable members of the Assembly while discharging his official duty, the state Executive council of Parliamentary staff Association of Nigeria(PASAN) met on Thursday 2nd February, 2017 and resolved that haven condemn the assault on the paymaster, Makanjuola, posited that "lives , safety and security of our members are of paramount importance to us in view of the way ODHA is heavily guarded by stern looking security officers and sporadic shooting within and around the Assembly complex on Monday 1st February, 2017
"That until normalcy is returned to the complex, all workers under the leadership of PASAN are to stay away indefinitely from the Assembly Complex."
