The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has reacted to the crisis rocking the Ondo State House of Assembly leadership, over the removal of the Speaker, Ms Jumoke Akindele and the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Fatai Olotu on fraud allegations, high-handedness and contract racketeering. This is an attestation of Mimiko's looting spree across all ministries, agencies and parastatals(MDAs), and the corruption that has traversed the state in the last eight(8) years.
They were impeached following an incident where the house paymaster was allegedly caught by members of the Assembly with the sum of N15 million at the Assembly premises. When confronted, the paymaster said he was acting on the instruction of the impeached speaker, Ms Jumoke Akindele, who ordered him (paymaster) to bring the money to her resident.
In a statement by the Party's Publicity Secretary, Omo'ba Abayomi Adesanya said, "this Assembly is a rubber stamp House. They endorse matter brought before them for consideration under the leadership of the former Speaker, Jumoke Akindele without due process. The former Speaker is a stooge of the Governor, thereby converting the Assembly to asubsidiary of the Governor's Office. She is engrossed in so many corruption activities and has always been evading arrest and interrogation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with the help of the outgoing Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko".
"It is noteworthy that these Honourable members could summon courage this time around, to effect change in their leadership, which had remain untouchable all this while. This is highly commendable. The former Speaker has been an accomplice of Governor Olusegun Mimiko in the business of diverting state resources into private pockets and plunging Ondo state into indebtedness, to the tune of about N150 billion, without due process and commensurate achievement.
The Party called on EFCC to arrest the former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Ms Jumoke Akindele, the former Deputy Speaker, Mr. Fatai Olotu and the former Majority Leader, Mr. Ifedayo Akinsoyinu for interrogation and investigations over the alleged N15 million fraud, and other shady activities of the house under its former leadership.
Adesanya also charged the new leadership of the House to commence an impeachment process against the Governor of the State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, going by various atrocities he has perpetrated against the good people of the State in the last eight(8) years of his reign. It is on record that, Mimiko has been involved in last minutes looting of the State's treasury and properties, under the guise of contracts award and execution, some which are without budgetary allocation and due process, the statement reads.
