PDP vows to resist any form of “federal might” during Ondo poll

The People Democratic Party, PDP on Wednesday said the party would not allow what happened during the last governorship election in Edo state to repeat itself in the November 26 governorship election in Ondo state.

Fatai Adams, the Deputy State chairman of the party made this known at the signing of peace accord by the Nigeria Police Force at the Officers' Mess, Akure.

According to him, a situation where party agents and journalists were barred from coalition centers during the Edo election will be resisted by his members during the forthcoming poll.

Also speaking, a member of the Akeredolu Campaign Organisation, Gboyega Adefarati, who represented the All Progressives Congress, APC urged the police to display a high level of professionalism during and after the election and to avoid being compromised by desperate politicians.

Earlier speaking, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Hilda Harrison warned all members of the political parties that would be participating in the election against involving in acts of violence.

"Tearing of posters should stop, we have received many information that some people are tearing the posters of other parties, we won't allow this any longer. Nobody had the right to tear posters of another party.

"There must not be throwing of stones or other dangerous weapons at anybody during campaigns and rallies. We have to be law-abiding so that we can have peace during the election period," she said.
