The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has sent a strong warning to a former PDP national vice chairman (South West), Chief Olabode George over a statement credited to him where he described the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise Dr, Jimoh Ibrahim as the PDP governorship candidate in the November 26,2016 poll as "one of the most unsavory and disturbing interventions in our political space since the dawn of democracy".
The party warned Mr. Olabode George to be mindful of his altercations over an issue that has became a matter of litigation and before a court of law, stressing that George has no moral justification whatsoever to challenge the fairness or morality of the decision of INEC to discharge it constitutional duty according to the dictate of law.
In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of PDP in the state, Yemi Akintomide and made available to newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Monday, the party said it very much aware and also conscious of the destructive antics and un-statesmanlike attitude of the retired military officer turned politician which he unleashed on Lagos PDP since 1999, rendering the party impotent and lame which had never won election in Lagos state.
"For the records, the PDP family in Ondo State has been winning elections at all levels of government in Ondo state since 2003, and will continue to win elections as ruling party without the input of impostors and outsiders like George, who is now trying to extend his bad luck and failed leadership prowess to our state.
"We take reservation in Bode George biased and selfish comments on Justice Okon Abang judgment and order to replace Barrister Eyitayo Jegede with that of Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim (CFR) as the authentic candidate of PDP; and the uncharitable way the Lagosian is trying to drag President Mohammadu Buhari into a pure legal matter.
"Chief Bode can not because of it personal ambition to be the national chairman of our party, PDP, which was a stillbirth in the hands of the midwife, Governor Olusegun Mimiko, to stand the law of the land on it head while seeking unwarranted favour from President Buhari whom they have not for one day, believe in or support his administration.
"It must be done on Chief Bode George that he has already became a spent force in his own Lagos State politics, not to talk of South West region, and Nigeria as an entity; seeking an already lost relevance and looking for a back door to get into the corridor of power again through this unlawful and morally bankrupt step is an exercise in futility.
"We advice Chief Bode George to use the remaining energy and strength in him to face the various corruption charges, financial and moral burden placed upon his head by the anti-graft agencies at this prime time of his life, rather than wasting such energy backing a failed project such as PDP candidacy in Ondo state."
"We hope by now what should be paramount in the mind of our former board chairman of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is to move closer to God, seek the favour of his creator for his past misdeeds, seek redress from his family, business and political associates and again, ask for the forgiveness of all Nigerians and Nigeria as one of the collaborators against the country underdeveloped, till date."
