The Welshman has retured from a family break in Dubai and is set to turn down the chance to work with new manager, Jose Mourinho.
Giggs, who worked as No.2 under former boss, Louis van Gaal, is being offered a lesser role under Mourinho. However, the 42-year-old would rather go elsewhere and prove himself as a manager.
Mourinho is coming to Old Trafford with his long-standing assistant, Rui Faria as his No.2, meaning that the role available for Giggs will be a step down.
It is understood that the role is within United's Academy.
Giggs is keen to manage the Red Devils, but he has been overlooked twice when David Moyes and Van Gaal were sacked and is now ready to kickstart his managerial career at another club.
