Why I dumped PDP for APC – Smart Adeyemi

Senator Smart Adeyemi, who represented Kogi West Senatorial District, has finally explained why he dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Speaking with The News on Monday, the former NUJ chairman said he was no longer comfortable with the leadership styles of his estranged party.

He said "You know politics is essentially a local issue. For over 16 years, the people at the grassroots did not enjoy development under PDP. That was why my supporters and I worked for the Abubakar Audu/James Faleke governorship race.

"Thank God APC won. In fact, my supporters dumped PDP and joined APC before me. We are not looking at issue of party now but development for the people.

"I need to be in the APC so that we can jointly with Hon Abiodun Faleke and my brothers work for the betterment of our people. When I talk to the people in government about the deprivation of our area as a member of the APC, they will not see me as an enemy," he added.
