Members of the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party watched with awe on Tuesday as the party's National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh slipped from his seat.

The incident happened at the party's national secretariat in Abuja.

Metuh was about taking his seat inside the NWC hall, where the party's National Chairman, Sen. Ali Modu Sherffi was about inaugurating the members of the caretaker committee for Borno and Yobe States.

Members of the NWC who were seated inside the hall were Sheriff, National Legal Adviser, Mr. Victor Kwon; National Woman Leader, Dr. Kema Chikwe; National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo and the National Treasurer, Bala Buhari.

Metuh had attempted to sit beside Chikwe when his chair slipped and he landed on the floor.

Security operatives attached to Sheriff and those that stood at the entrance of the hall, rushed to his rescue, but it was too late as he was already on the floor.

Metuh, who dressed in French safari suit, had earlier complained of "serious back ache" when he met journalists at the secretariat less than 30 minutes to the incident.

It was gathered that he was later rushed to the National Hospital, Abuja.

As at the time of filling this report, it was not clear if he had been discharged from the hospital
