The era of politicians using free food items to woo voters has come back as former Senate President, David Mark, is now distributing his own brand of customised rice, salt and tomatoes to the people of Benue State as he prepares for a rerun of the election that saw him to the Upper Chamber which was nullified by the Court of Appeal, Makurdi, last week.
The four term Senator, according to his campaign team, ordered that the items be distributed free for the people of his Otukpo Constituency as a way of wooing them to vote for him again.
Close observers have noticed, however, that the stickers on the branded items were the same as those made for his campaign during the last election which were apparently diverted by some of his key supporters who were in charge of distribution.
It was also gathered that while some people rejected the food items, others still scrambled for them, an indication that the now heraldedstomach infrastructure is playing a key role in elections in the country.
