Gov. Bello warns new commissioners to eschew corruption‎

The Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, on Monday warned the newly sworn in 14 commissioners, three special advisers and the Deputy Chief of Staff to eschew all forms of corruption as he kick starts his Executive Council.

Bello cautioned them on corruption at the Government House during their swearing in, adding that the task ahead was enormous, but promised to have an economically vibrant state so as to meet up with the aspirations of the people of Niger State.

The governor stated that there will be no pity for any corrupt official in his government.

He said the should see themselves as change agents who must be exemplary in their activities.
He said using their office for amassing wealth will not be condoned by his administration.

Bello noted that agricultural policies will be vigorously pursued to encourage mechanized and large scale farming, which would boost the economic base of the people, especially at the grassroots.

The new commissioners sworn in included Idris Abubakar Azozo for Water Resources and Dam Development; Mamman Musa for Agriculture and Rural Development; Aliyu Abdullahi, Youths and Sports Development; Fatima Madugu, Education, Science and Technology; Dr. Mustapha Jibrin, Health and Health Services; and Mallam Ibrahim Balarebi for Finance.

Others were Hon. Aliyu Zakar Jikantoro, Land and Housing; Kabir Abbas Musa, Local Government, Community and Chieftaincy Affairs; Barrister Nasara Danmalam, Justice; Aliyu Mohammed Tangagi, Environment and Mineral Resources; and Abdulmalik Usman Cheche for Works and Transportation.

The rest are Mohammed Nda for Planning Commission; Jonathan Tsado Vatsa, Information, Tourism and Culture; and Ramatu Mohammed Yar'adua for Environment, Commerce and Industry.

Governor Bello promised that he is determined to bring meaningful development to the state by getting it right this time, while assuring those local government without representatives of adequate compensation for effective and efficient service delivery as people of proven integrity and good records were considered for the appointments.
