A source in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has revealed that the anti-graft agency is set to re-open the corruption cases of some top politicians.

According to Vanguard Newspapers, notable among them is the former Governor of Rivers state, Dr. Peter Odili.

Reports say Justice Ibrahim Buba granted Odili's request for an injunction restraining the EFCC from probing alleged corrupt practices during his eight year tenure as Governor.

The EFCC source says there is hope now, because the Criminal Justice Administration Act of 2015 has removed every hindrance to the prosecution of corrupt officials.

Vanguard also reports that the EFCC source said:  "Let it be made clear that the EFCC will go after all cases that are deserving of investigation. There is nothing like perpetual injunctions anymore in our criminal administration justice code.

"We have a duty to investigate all cases since we are empowered by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to investigate all such corruption-related cases and that is what we are asked to do.

"We are empowered by Section 15 of the new Criminal Justice Administration Act to investigate all cases irrespective of injunctions. We cannot be stopped."

The former Rivers state Governor, Dr. Peter Odili recently revealed that he collected N100m from the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, Dr Adamu Muazu, and not Sambo Dasuki.
