10 escape death as filling station, fuel tankers catch fire in Akure

IMG_20151223_144055About ten persons escaped death by the whiskers yesterday in Akure, the Ondo State capital when two petroleum tankers in a filling station caught fire along Akure/Ondo road in the state capital.

Those who escaped the inferno included the drivers of the two trucks, their assistants and the workers at the filling station.

The incident which caught the workers unaware started around 1.30pm when the drivers attached to the tankers were dispensing fuel in the fuel dump at the station.

One of the workers told DAILY POST that the drivers and the assistants were dispensing fuel into the fuel dump when the tankers burst into flame.

Men of the 323 artillery brigade cordoned off the area to prevent break down of law and order, while men of the fire service tried to put off the fire.

As at the time of filling this report, sympathisers were also helping the Fire Service Personnel to fetch water within the environment.
